DOCUMENTARY
The Documentary Gallery houses my Sunset Boulevard series started in the late 1980s and continued into the 1990s. I saw Sunset Boulevard as having three distinct sections. The first and eastern most being multi-cultural. Many ethnic businesses juxtaposed next door to each other and crossing many cultural lines. The second section which runs through Hollywood I saw as “tinsel town”, with its tattoo parlors and movie theatres. The third section is the drive from La Cienega to Pacific Coast Highway that show the exclusive residential neighborhoods which terminate at the coast.The most recent additions to this gallery are a compilation of images from recent trips to locales such as India and South America. I portray some of everyday life and activities of those particular cultures while showcasing industries such as the “textile” industry in India and the “weaving” industries of Peru and Ecuador.
